This past year has been a whirlwind for me, filled with unexpected twists and turns. It began with the joy of marriage, swiftly followed by the heartache of divorce. Amidst these ups and downs, I embarked on a new chapter by purchasing a house and settling into it this spring.
In the midst of it all, I had the pleasure of reconnecting with my oldest brother, Tom, and meeting his lovely daughters in June. Then, in July, I had the incredible opportunity to meet my second oldest brother, Joe, and his wife, Tammy. Their warmth and authenticity were a breath of fresh air, especially considering the apprehension I felt due to my upbringing in a judgmental family. However, my fears were unfounded; Joe and Tammy embraced me with open arms.
Spending time with them felt like a reunion with old friends rather than a first meeting. Joe and Tammy's genuine kindness and care made me feel instantly at ease. Our evening together, filled with laughter and shared stories, culminated in a breathtaking sunset view from the rooftop bar of the Pier 60 hotel. Despite my body not being as resilient as it once was, thanks to the indulgence in drinks, the night was memorable, albeit ending with a humorous mishap involving a friend driving my car home while I battled the effects of overindulgence.
Reflecting on the evening, I realized the importance of cherishing meaningful connections and prioritizing self-care. It became apparent that my upcoming trip to Las Vegas to visit family, albeit sans certain relatives, was a necessary step toward prioritizing my mental well-being. The toxicity of certain relationships had taken its toll, and it was time to prioritize my own happiness.
Although bouts of depression have weighed heavily on me recently, the time spent with my brother and his wife served as a beacon of hope. It underscored my longing for a deep, meaningful connection with a partner who values and respects me—a love that I've yet to find but remain hopeful for. In the meantime, I'm committed to loving myself and embracing life's journey, wherever it may lead.
As I prepare for my trip, I'm reminded of the importance of self-care and embracing new experiences. I'm eager to share my adventures in Las Vegas and Arizona with you in future blogs. From now on, you can expect to hear from me more regularly, with a new post at least once a month.
Thank you for joining me on this journey. Here's to new beginnings and the pursuit of happiness. Until next time, take care and stay tuned for more updates!
