A Fresh Start in Hawaii: Embracing the Challenges and Moving Forward

I’ve been in Hawaii for just over a week now, and while I’m finally starting to settle into my new place, the journey to get here was nothing short of a whirlwind. It’s funny how life sometimes seems to test your patience and resilience all at once, but maybe that’s when we find out just how strong we really are.

The decision to move to Hawaii felt right in my heart, but from the moment I boarded the plane, it felt like everything that could go wrong did. Roro, my little Yorkie, was restless throughout the flight. The medication I gave him didn’t work the way I’d hoped, and he was so anxious, he peed twice on the flight. It was chaotic, especially with the flights being much longer than I anticipated. To make matters worse, I had to endure a four-hour layover in Honolulu before my final flight to Kona. I was tired and stressed, but I thought once I got to Kona, everything would start to get better. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.

When I finally arrived in Kona, I learned that one of my bags—containing all of my essential toiletries, medications, and other important items—had been misplaced and was on a different flight. I felt an overwhelming sense of panic. Losing those items made me feel completely unprepared for the next few days. I had to wait in limbo, unsure of when my bag would arrive.

Then, as if that weren’t enough, another one of my bags had been broken into by TSA. I had forgotten that I wasn’t supposed to check my iPad due to the lithium battery, and TSA had to break the zipper to access it. When I finally got the bag back, the iPad was sitting on top of my open luggage, and TSA had left a note explaining that they had to break the bag but would reimburse me. So now, not only was I without my essentials, but one of my bags was completely unusable. I had to file claims, take pictures, and deal with the whole process of trying to get reimbursed, all while just wanting to catch my breath after such a hectic move.

But despite all of this, despite the frustrations and setbacks, I made it through. Life has a way of testing us, especially when we’re on the brink of something new. I’ve come to believe that sometimes, the universe throws these challenges our way to show us just how strong we are. Even in the moments where I felt like I couldn’t handle one more thing, I found a way to keep pushing forward.

When my lost bag finally arrived with all my toiletries and medications, I could finally start settling in. It felt like the nightmare was slowly coming to an end. Looking back now, I realize how resilient we can be when faced with the unexpected. Things didn’t go smoothly, but I made it. I’m here now, writing this blog from my new home in Hawaii, and I’m proud of myself for getting through the chaos.

Through this experience, I’ve also learned that there will always be people, circumstances, or situations trying to test you—whether it’s during a big move or just day-to-day life. Sometimes the people closest to us can unknowingly (or knowingly) push our buttons, bringing stress or negativity into our lives when we’re already stretched thin. Moving to a new place and starting fresh while still dealing with external stressors isn’t easy, but I’ve managed. I’ve moved in, and though it’s taken time, I’m finally feeling like things are starting to fall into place. I’m beginning to believe that I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.

Now, my focus is on finding my place here—figuring out how to make a name for myself in this new chapter. I’m excited to discover what’s next and to embrace all the opportunities this fresh start will bring. Each day feels like a new beginning, and though there will be challenges, I’m ready for them.

To those of you reading this, I hope my story gives you some encouragement. Life doesn’t always go as planned, and sometimes, things can feel overwhelming. But remember, you are strong enough to face whatever comes your way. Whether you’re bracing for a hurricane, like some of you in Florida right now, or just navigating your own personal storms, know that you will get through it. My thoughts and prayers are with you all, especially those dealing with the upcoming hurricane. You are not alone in this journey—we are all in this together, and brighter days are always ahead.

Stay hopeful, stay strong, and trust that the storm will pass. On the other side, there is always peace, and you’ll come out even stronger.

Sending love and strength from Hawaii. 🌺

Until next time,

Blessed Be.
